Why it is only a few megabytes
Most card games ship a few hundred megabytes of 3D tables and video. RUNG draws its table and cards in the interface toolkit itself, so there is almost nothing to download and nothing to wait for on first launch. On a slow connection that is the difference between playing tonight and giving up.
What works without a connection
- Practice against bots runs entirely on the device, including the variants. How the bots play.
- Online matches obviously need a connection — but they survive losing one. The match lives on the server, so you come back to your seat, your cards and the real score.
Permissions and data
The honest version, since nobody reads a data-safety table:
- No contacts, no photos, no location, no microphone. The app does not ask for them.
- Notifications are optional, and asked for with an explanation first. They are what tells you it is your turn, or that a friend has invited you to a table.
- What is stored: your display name, an account id, your match results and progression. An email address only if you choose to sign in with one.
- Everything in transit is encrypted — the release build refuses to send anything over plain HTTP.
- Delete your account from inside the app, in Settings. Profile, stats, friends, achievements and purchases are erased; past matches survive only in anonymised form so your opponents’ histories are not rewritten.
- Export your data from the same screen, as a file, whenever you like.

Prefer not to install anything?
A browser version is in testing. It runs on the same servers as the app, so the two share tables, ratings and friends — there is no separate account and no separate ladder. When it opens, every “play” button on this site will point at it; until then they go to Google Play.
Is there an iPhone version?
Not yet. Android first, browser next — and the browser version is what will put RUNG on an iPhone soonest, since it runs in Safari without an App Store at all.
Updates
RUNG ships often: the current version is 1.21.x, and recent releases added referral rewards, a notification-permission prompt that explains itself, an activity calendar on profiles and a long list of table-feel fixes. Updates arrive through Google Play like any other app.
